About Coach Tyler - Founder & Club Director
​Originally from Ventura, California, Tyler attended Buena High School before continuing to Ventura College and Colorado Mesa University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Sports Management. He is currently pursuing his Master’s in Sports Administration through Colorado Mesa University.

Tyler brings a well-rounded coaching background across both high school and club programs. He previously served as Head Coach at Ventura High School and Rancho Cucamonga High School, and has coached with Gold Coast Water Polo Club and Rancho Tsunami Water Polo Club. His experience in California, one of the most competitive and complex water polo environments in the country, has equipped him with a strong understanding of operating within a large, multi-division system while supporting athlete development across all levels.

He has also contributed at the national level as a coach within the USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program, working with both the SoPac and Coastal Zones. In addition, Tyler serves on the USA Water Polo Midwest Zone Board as the Board Secretary and the Michigan Water Polo Association Board as the Board Secretary, supporting initiatives focused on growing the sport and expanding access across the region.

Outside of water polo, Tyler is a fan of Michigan Wolverines football, the Detroit Lions, and the Los Angeles Dodgers, and enjoys time with his dog, Grace.
About Coach Greg - HS Girls Head Coach
There is no introduction necessary for this LEGEND in Portage Area Water Polo. Lowman comes with an extensive background in Water Polo. He has his finger on the pulse of Water Polo in the area and we are excited to have someone as dedicated to providing aquatic opportunities to youth athletes as he is. We are proud and honored to announce Coach Greg as a leader for Zoo WPC.
Playing Career:
4 years playing at Grand Haven High School, earned all conference as a junior and senior; first team all region as a junior and senior; and 3rd team all state as a Junior and 2nd team all state as a Senior. Went on to play club water polo at Grand Valley State University for one year.
Coaching Career:
Was an assistant coach at West Ottawa High School boys and girls team for 3 years before taking a hiatus to pursue his current job at Consumers Energy. Currently the head coach for the Portage Muskies boys water polo team which he took over in the fall of 2022.
About Coach Silas - HS Boys Coach
Coach Silas brings a strong playing background and a passion for developing young athletes to the Zoo WPC coaching staff. He played three seasons on the Portage High School varsity team before continuing his playing career with two seasons of club water polo in Grand Rapids with Third Coast.

Outside of water polo, Silas enjoys spending time at the rock climbing gym and working toward his private pilot’s license.

Coach Silas is an original member of the Zoo WPC coaching staff and was part of the club’s first Junior Olympics experience in Dallas in 2026. As the High School Boys Coach, he is committed to helping athletes grow both in and out of the pool while building a competitive and positive team culture.
